Heritage H-170CM from 1986 in cherry burst.

Mahogany set neck with rosewood fingerboard and mother of pearl dots.

Double cutaway single piece mahogany body with two piece curly maple cap ( " CM " )

I bought this one used about three years ago. It was originally fitted with Schaller pickups and roller bridge and tailpiece.

I had the hardware and pickups replaced, I've also taken the pickguard off.

It originally had a factory D-VIP setup, a double vari phase switching, hence the three mini switches.

Pickups are now Duncan P-Rails with series humbucker / P90 and single coil tones for each pickups. The tones can be freely combined, e.g. neck P90 with bridge humbucker or neck humbucker with bridge single coil etc. Great pickups, lots of tones, I have them on a few guitars now.

This one has a "stinger" at the back of the headstock, the black "V". It is fairly light, about 7 to 7 1/2 lbs. Tonally it is somewhere between a Heritage 150 /157 / Gibson Les Paul and a Gibson SG. The neck is fairly slim not chunky at all.

The current 2nd generation 170 has softer body horns and a different control layout.

Yes they do look like a Yamaha SG, they're basically a double cut away 140. There have been a few lefty 170s. An American guy was selling one a while back. He sold it to a guy in Australia who later sold it again. I don't know where it went to.

It was a custom order in blue, with the softer horns and different control layout, plus a bound neck and headstock.



It might turn up again sometime.
