Change of policy ? If there's a flaw, return is on them, if you're just not satisfied, return is on you.

Maybe. The Thomann site says 30 day money back guarantee ...

"" we offer you full 30 Days Money-Back - no hassles, no questions asked! ""

https://www.thomann.de/ie/helpdesk_moneyback.html

May not apply to left handed Irishmen though.

Still no refund .. and they've had it 5 days now.

Thomann's terms and conditions a écrit :Musikhaus Thomann regrets that it is unable to cover the shipping costs for return shipments from foreign countries as part of the 30-day money back guarantee.

QED. (but I don't know if a latin abbreviation is fit for an Irishman)

I'm guessing that a few 25th Anniversary Harley Bentons were sent back due to quality problems and there is a backlog of them to be processed.

A bit embarrassing for them if they still can't get a lefty nut correct after 25 years at it :D

A refund was issued today, of course it won't be in my account for another few days

Compared to Gear4music Thomanns return process is a pain in the a$$.

This thread has officially killed any interest in Harley Benton guitars for me.

I gave them an honest try, twice, and they were not up to scratch both times.

Sorry to hear this @SouthpawGuy, I hope you'll find the good one and quite thinkin on a "bad luck" situation here.
But I totaly understand your position, as in the US & the lack of HB distributor over there makes the whole process uber dupper long for return.
In europe, is a matter of 2 days shipping when we order guitar or strings at Thomann, thus, if anything goes sideways, the issue is usually resolved in a week or two. Plenty of time to forget about the issue and have a more pleasant experience.

I have 2 HBs at home, one TE-90 (Telecaster Cabronita Copy, ideal for the reheasals & pub gigs), payed 90$ (198$ new) & one SC-550 (LP Copy) payed 75$ (298$ new), both from eBay.

Although some really low low end have had a QC "standards" lowered on Lefty models - Let's be honest, nobody in a factory tests LH models like they do with RH models.

The nut on the SC-550, is on par with what Epiphone did on the DOT or Casino, I don't have nor have owned a LP from them to attest though.
Same goes for the TE-90 (Telecaster), I did in fact used some files on the nut and grey pen.

Fretjob was the most work, had to buy a neck ruler and some luthier's tools to do the job.
But now, with YouTube, you can pretty much learn anything, given you have some time and like to tinker a bit, I admit, I fell for it years ago.
For what I payed, I knew It would be a continual WIP and help to gather some experience in woodworking / amateur-Luthier-wannabe.

I have looked over YT to find out some tests on the TE-25TH, some are truely breathtaking when plugged into Ableton / Logic Pro or good amps
J'vais chercher des serviettes éponge avec des imprimés dessus, non pas celle la

I'm still tempted to try another one

I must be a sadist at heart

The guitar itself seemed to be good, it was just let down by a crappy nut. I never plugged it in though, mainly because of the really bad fret buzz, it just wasn't playable out of the box.

Ahahaha the Sadism upon lefty players is a true thing tho :) .
As you said QC guy "Harvey" (btw cute made-up name) was asleep and was on the lefty production line with no idea what he was supposed to do that night.

But, and I'm really thinking this, quality of HB have drasticaly raised in the past few years, a few years ago, nobody in the US was thinking about importing a EU brand such as HB.
YES, HB did a trumendous job to hire some guitar reviews in the US and have them care about HB, but noneless, it's a trend, HB is here and now it's treated like a guitar brand, not as chinese-made knockoffs.

I own 2 out of 30 guitar, and I'm still definitely playing them both.
They nailed the neck with modern C profile & jumbo frets. nothing like the 20th anniversary Squier I had when I started playing 17 years ago.

I'm not a "fan" nor anything related to HB before anyone ask or think that :)
